DIN EN 1.4571 material (X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2) is made by adding titanium (Ti) to EN 1.4401 stainless steel (X5CrNiMo17-12-2) to improve the resistance to intergranular corrosion. Titanium can improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, especially intergranular corrosion, effectively prevent the sensitization of stainless steel, and also improve the stability of steel in high temperature and high pressure. When the mass fraction of titanium is between 0.03% and 0.1%, the yield strength of the steel is improved. Therefore, EN 1.4571 material has higher temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and sensitization resistance than 1.4401.
EN 1.4571 is more resistant to corrosion than EN 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10) and 1.4401 (X5CrNiMo17-12-2). Because it contains titanium and forms TiC with carbon, it greatly reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion sensitization. However, in high temperature, high concentration of concentrated nitric acid, chloride and hot alkaline solution, significant corrosion may occur.
EN 1.4571 steel has good weldability, does not require preheating before welding, and usually does not require heat treatment after welding.
